Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

The Detroit Tigers went 64-92 last season (in a bad AL Central) and their over/under line was at 67 wins last year. Matt Moore, Josh Harrison & Jordy Mercer are key additions coming into this year and Jose Iglesias, Francisco Liriano, Victor Martinez were lost in the off-season. Tigers will need big offensive performances from guys such as John Hicks, Nicholas Castellanos, Miguel Cabrera, Jordy Mercer, and Josh Harrison. These players (the offense) will have to carry the team as the pitching staff is not overly impressive to me this year. Jordan Zimmermann, Michael Fulmer & Matt Boyd are the three best in the starting rotation and Fulmer is probably coming in with the most expectations but went 3-12 last year with a 4.52 ERA. This isn’t the best sign but the Tiger’s organization has high hopes for him.

My favorite bet for the Tigers this year- over 69 wins! Do I have high expectations for the Tigers this year? NO! But am I confident that the Tigers can win over 69? Yes! If the pitching can just be middle of the road this year in the AL, this team will win at least 70 games. I like this line-up and this team will be able to put up runs. We will have to see if Josh Harrison can bounce back from a .250 season last year. Thus far Harrison is slashing .500 this spring, in only 8 games, but promising to see. Tigers will win 76 games this year.

  • Win Total O/U: over 70  (confidence 7 of 10)
